Official meeting for establishing the Libyan Radiological Society
Sunday February 26th 2012
Skype meeting Friday 13 January 2012 Attended: Drs K.Sherlala, K.AL-Zwae, O.Assari, N.Ammar,A.Abuzainin, Y.Salem and M.Fleet
Points discussed: 1- There was discussion about starting a completely new society or activating the old one. Drs Najat and Adel conveyed the concern of local Radiologists in Tripoli who have difficuly accessing the internet and they feel that there is a majority preference of activating the old society, this is also preferred by people in the MOH. It was felt that the best way to proceed is to call for a society launch meetings in Tripoli and Benghazi with MOH delegates to attend, this is provisionally to be on sunday 26/2/2012, Adel and Najat will confirm the date and venue. During this meeting the society will be officially recognized and members vote on issues related to name, bylaws, etc.
2- Training will start with Radiologists practicing abroad will go to Libya and give intensive courses, Dr Sherlala already gave his dates in April, others will submit their dates
3- Dr Najat will contact local consultants in Tripoli willing to contribute to teaching and prepare a schedule for lectures covering all hospitals in Tripoli, other cities should do the same, this ideally happens one half day every week covering the whole curriculum which will be supervised by the training committee in the society once it becomes active
4- When the program starts there are non libyan Radiologists willing to contribute, this can be arranged through MOH
I hope this covers what we discussed, please let me know if I missed anything
